The Post House Captures Multiple Awards for Meth Prevention Videos

EAU CLAIRE, WI -- June 10, 2004 -- Don Byrne, owner of The Post House in Eau Claire, recently received 2 CameoFest Gold awards and a Golden Reel Award for excellence in video production from the Media Communications Association-International (MCA-I).

The CameoFest Awards is MCA-I's statewide awards competition that recognizes outstanding work in the field of visual communications. The Golden Reel Awards is the international competition of the same organization.

The two programs, "Meth: Bad Chemistry" and "Meth: A Vicious Cycle" were released on VHS and DVD last year in conjunction with three Public Service Announcements as part of a larger project to reduce demand for the highly addictive drug methamphetamine.

The first video, "Meth: Bad Chemistry," is directed to middle school and junior high students. It is designed to educate the viewer about the negative physical, psychological, relational, and criminal effects of Methamphetamine use, and the dangers of the labs.

The second video, "Meth: A Vicious Cycle," is directed to an adult audience. It is designed to inform teachers, parents, and others about the physical, psychological, societal, environmental, and criminal effects of meth use and manufacturing.

The videos were produced by The Post House of Eau Claire and Rucinski & Reetz Communication of Wausau with the assistance of schools, law enforcement agencies, treatment facilities, community organizations, and businesses from around the state. They are available to the general public throughout Wisconsin through schools, law enforcement agencies, and public libraries.

The videos were funded by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Policing Services grant #2002-CKWX0209 through the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.
