Engaging Viewers with Episodic Web Videos

So, do you think you have what it takes to cold call prospects and get them to purchase your product or service?  Well if you're one of those people who like to cold call potential customers, you just might get through the guard at the other end of the line blocking access to the decision maker you'd like to talk to.  But, did you know that it takes an average of 8 contacts before most customers will even remember who you are? Well, if you're like most people, you're going to give up after about the third try even though 80% of sales require 5 or more follow up calls after a meeting.

Or maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones who will get a call from a potential customer looking for your services. It happens. But if you're not the first one to get back to them, you'll lose what little advantage you had since 50% of sales go to the first person to contact the prospect.

Well if you're looking for a unique and powerful way to get in front of people, consider what television has been doing for generations--episodic television--on the web.

Episodic Web Videos are not new.  But they ARE becoming more effective since binge watching on Netflix has clamped down on the popularity of the weekly TV series. For better or worse, people can now watch an entire season of network episodes in just one weekend.

So why are Episodic Web Videos becoming more effective now?  Well, episodic TV viewers never really had the option of catching up on shows they missed.  With Episodic Web videos, viewers that miss a video in a series, can easily go back on line and find out what they missed.  Couple that with a compelling story with short concise videos on your YouTube channel or website, and you've got a formula for bringing viewers back to hopefully convert them to a customer.

Another awesome tactic, if it's in the budget, is to air the first commercial "on-air" and then direct them back to your website for the conclusion of the series.  Or maybe air the first part of the "story" on broadcast, and bring them back to web for "the rest of the story".  Done right, you'll see an uptick in on-line activity from people who are genuinely interested in your products.

And if you really want to convert those customers, make sure to pay attention to your on-line presence.  If you follow up with a web lead within 5 minutes, you're 9 times more likely to convert that potential customer into an active, engaged customer.

Episodic TV is a great way for bringing viewers to your website where they'll take that next step and become a customer.  If you'd like to learn more, give us a call.
